ebdo, 2018

Graphic design of the landing page and subscription funnel of “ebdo”, a french weekly magazine, who was abruptly discontinued and this website unpublished.

The newspaper was print-only: the website does not publish articles, neither does it stand as a conventional media site. Rather, it enhances the peculiarities of the magazine: independent, ad-free and written in close relationship with its readers.
The website uses the visual identity designed internally. This illustration is used as a placeholder.

The homepage displays the cover of the current issue, exaggerating and playing with representational codes of paper on screen (through stacked pages, for example). On hover, the summary is revealed. On click, the cover and some double-pages can be read in larger sizes.

One of the specificities of the magazine was its pay-what-you-want subscription, the reader choosing the amount of his financial commitment. A form in natural language introduces it in a simple way.

The funnel breaks down the subscription in 7 steps, the subscriber being guided progressively through each one. A recap of the validated steps as well as those to come is displayed at all times so that the user has, until the final step, a global overview of the whole subscription process.

The errors encountered appear directly within the step, in order to preserve its linearity.

A custom set of icons was drawn specifically, using the shapes of the magazine’s page header icons as a basis.

The website is of course reponsive, the reader is scrolling through each of the above sections, sorted by priority.
